This past December we announced our call for submissions from San Francisco Bay Area non-profits to apply for Atlassian Foundation grants. By offering grants of up to $10,000 to local education-focused organizations, we aim to get more involved with our community and have a direct, positive impact on youth here in the Bay Area.

After reviewing numerous applications, our Foundation Council is excited to announce the four non-profits it believes will best support our mission of giving the youth of the world access to a world-class education to break the poverty cycle. Without further ado, please meet our four new grantees:

Atlassian Foundation’s 2013 Grant Recipients

SF Education Fund
Atlassian volunteers have already been volunteering at the socio-economically disadvantaged school next door, Bessie Carmichael Elementary School, for the past year thanks to the guidance of the San Francisco Education Fund. This grant will not only continue to deepen our relationship with the school, but also allow us to fund School Volunteers – a program that engages community members as volunteers in San Francisco’s public schools. Volunteers support and inspire public school students to realize their full potential.

Foundation for Students Rising Above
The Foundation for Students Rising Above has an impressive mission to offer long-term commitment to each and every student in its program. Each student receives 5+ years of services including mentoring, academic expertise, financial assistance, health care, college application support, and career guidance.

Reading Partners
Reading Partners‘ programs have been delivering demonstrated measurable results for over a decade – results have shown that more than 80% of target students accelerate their progress in reading. Each new volunteer gives one more child the opportunity to finally receive the individualized attention he or she needs to catch up to the appropriate standard reading level.

Gray Area Foundation for the Arts
Gray Area Foundation for the Arts is piloting a new program that they believe Atlassian can help to build and establish. This program will provide a scholarship to four Bay Area students so they can have the opportunity to learn creative technology skills that they otherwise would not be able to afford.
