Activity Streams are the best way to follow what’s happening in real-time on your Jira issues and projects. Quickly see all external activity from Atlassian tools like Confluence, Fisheye, and Bamboo, as well as from third-party software like Box, Zephyr, and Tempo. Whether you want to see Confluence page updates, Bamboo build information, or issues created via Zendesk, Activity Streams is your one stop shop for Jira updates.
Activity Types
All Jira activity (e.g. attachments, comments, status changes, workflow transitions) is posted to your stream by default. By configuring Application Links, the rest of the Atlassian product suite can also post updates to your activity stream.
With the release of Jira 5, external integrations/plugins listed below can also post activity to your stream. Here is a short tutorial showing how to add activities to a third party feed via REST.
Filters
Activity streams are configured out-of-the-box to track updates by project, issue, or user. Filters provide an additional layer of customization for activity stream gadgets on your dashboard, allowing you and your team to track only the updates that are important to you.
Filters are configured by product, allowing you to view or hide specific activity with the click of a button (e.g. failed jobs in Bamboo, or new comments in Jira). Filters are great for teams that only wish to track projects and issues relevant to them. Third party activity can be filtered for integrations/plugins that are connected to Jira via Application Links.
