AtlasCamp

I’m a new’ish Atlassian and this was my first AtlasCamp, but it felt like I’ve been to all four. This is a testament to how awesome the Atlassian community is. The Atlassian developer community is one of the warmest and friendliest developer communities I’ve come to know recently — and I’m not just saying that just because I am an Atlassian.

This year’s AtlasCamp came with lots of new announcements and great enhancements to products and tools. Here’s a summary:

  • A new release of the Atlassian SDK greatly improves developer productivity allowing developers to easily manage plugin modules and improve the developer feedback loop through the new FastDev feature
  • New plugin points inside Confluence 4 allowing devs to create plugins that tap into the new awesome editor
  • Jira 5.0’s focus on stable APIs and a new REST API with full CRUD capabilities for issues
  • … and plenty of tips and techniques unravelled

Mike Cannon-Brookes also made a few big announcements including AtlasCamp Europe (save the date 22-23 March 2012 — location is TBD) and the new Atlassian Marketplace which will make it’s debut in 2012.

We also had a bit of fun on Thursday night at the fabulous Long Branch Saloons & Farms. A special thanks goes out to Jessie Curtner and team for setting that up.

Several folks have uploaded photos to Flickr here and here. If you have photos you’d like to share, post it on Flickr with the “atlascamp” tag or on our Facebook page. Videos of the sessions will also be posted soon — look out for those.

Thanks to everyone who came, shared, and partied. Let’s do it again in 2012!
