Atlassian’s Starter License Community raises $500,000
In April 2009 Atlassian’s stimulus package raised US$100,000 for Room to Read via sales of $5 5-user Starter Licenses of Jira & Confluence. Atlassian since expanded the program, with $10 10-user Starter Licenses for Atlassian’s best tools, and continues to donate all proceeds to the global childrens’ education charity.
We are thrilled to announce that Atlassian and the Starter License Community have just reached a new milestone: a total of $500,000 for Room To Read, making Atlassian Room to Read’s largest Australian donor.
The $500,000 raised is paying for education and literacy programs in Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Cambodia. The projects include the establishment of 34 libraries, four schools, and two local language books. Other funds have been set aside to sponsor 250 scholarships through the Girls’ Education program which provides school fees, books, uniforms, transportation, mentoring and life skills training to help girls complete secondary school. In total, more than 32,000 children will have benefited from educational opportunities supported through the Starter license promotion. Help us raise $1,000,000
When we first commenced the program, we were unsure if we’d ever raise $25,000. Who would have thought that our commitment to create permanent 10-user $10 licenses of our software for individuals, small teams and startups could have had such an impact? Thus, it seems especially fitting to set a new goal to double this milestone figure and set out to reach $1,000,000!
